We recommend a minimum of 17mm for standard stable floors, with 22mm for high-traffic areas or for horses that are stabled for long periods. Thicker mats provide better cushioning and joint support.
How many mats do I need for a standard stable?
A standard 12ft x 12ft (3.6m x 3.6m) stable typically requires 6–9 mats depending on mat size. Our mats are available in standard sizes to minimise cutting — measure your stable and contact us for a tailored quote.
Are stable mats easy to clean and disinfect?
Yes. Rubber stable mats are non-porous, making them easy to muck out and disinfect. Use a pressure washer or stiff broom with stable disinfectant. They dry quickly and do not harbour bacteria like wooden or straw floors.
Will rubber stable mats slip on a concrete floor?
Our stable mats feature a studded or ribbed underside which grips concrete floors firmly. The top surface is also anti-slip for horse safety. For very smooth floors, consider using mat clips or edging strips.
