Yes — many of our rubber sheets and rolls are sold per metre, meaning you can order the exact length you need. Some products are available in specific cut sizes. If you need a custom cut or bespoke size, please get in touch and we'll advise what's possible.
Most of our products have no minimum order — you can buy a single mat or a full roll. For products sold per metre, a minimum cut of 1 metre typically applies. Trade and bulk orders are also welcome — contact us for volume pricing.

SBR (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) is the most widely used rubber in industrial flooring. It's made partly from recycled rubber (including reclaimed tyre rubber), making it a durable and cost-effective choice. SBR is safe for commercial and industrial use and is non-toxic in solid form. It is not recommended for food contact surfaces or applications where sustained water exposure is critical — for those, EPDM is the preferred alternative.
Thickness depends on the application:
- 2mm–4mm — Light-duty protection, tool drawer liners, bench matting
- 4mm–6mm — General industrial flooring, packing stations, light workshop use
- 6mm–10mm — Heavy-duty industrial, vehicle bays, anti-fatigue standing areas
- 12mm–25mm — Gym flooring, stable matting, heavy machinery bases
Not sure? Use our Rubber Thickness Guide or call us for advice.
Yes — the majority of our products feature a textured or ribbed surface that provides excellent slip resistance in both wet and dry conditions. Many products meet or exceed HSE slip resistance guidelines. If you need certification for a specific application (e.g., catering or public spaces), please contact us and we can advise on the most appropriate product.
Some of our products are specifically designed for outdoor use, including entrance matting, rubber paving, and EPDM-based surfaces. Standard SBR matting can tolerate occasional outdoor use but is not UV-stabilised for permanent outdoor exposure. Always check the product page or ask us to confirm outdoor suitability before ordering.
Roll widths vary by product. Common widths include 900mm, 1000mm, 1200mm, 1400mm, and 1500mm. Sheets are typically sold at fixed widths with variable cut lengths. Full roll lengths vary — check individual product pages for exact dimensions, or contact us if you need a specific width.
Fitting & Installation
In many cases, no — heavier rubber mats and rolls will stay in position under their own weight, especially on smooth concrete or tiled floors. For permanent installations, edge-trimming, or high-traffic areas, a suitable contact adhesive is recommended. We can advise on the right adhesive for your specific product — just ask.
Yes. Most rubber matting can be cut to size using a sharp Stanley knife and straight edge. For thicker products (12mm+), a jigsaw with a rubber-cutting blade will make the job easier. Always cut on a flat, protected surface. Pre-cut or custom-cut options are also available — contact us for details.
Rubber matting is generally safe on most hard floor surfaces including concrete, vinyl, and tile. However, some SBR products can cause discolouration on light-coloured vinyl or timber floors over time due to plasticiser migration. If you're laying rubber over a sensitive floor, opt for an EPDM-based product or use a barrier membrane underneath. Ask us for advice specific to your flooring type.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Rubber matting is easy to clean and maintain:
- Daily: Sweep or vacuum to remove debris and grit
- Weekly: Mop with warm water and a mild detergent
- Deep clean: Use a pressure washer (keep the nozzle moving to avoid damage) or a scrubbing machine
- Avoid: Solvent-based cleaners, bleach (can degrade rubber over time), and very hot steam on bonded installations
Yes, this is completely normal. SBR and recycled rubber products can have a strong odour when first unpacked, particularly in warm or enclosed environments. The smell typically dissipates within 1–4 weeks with adequate ventilation. Airing the matting in a well-ventilated space before installation will speed up the process significantly.
Properly installed rubber matting in a commercial or industrial environment typically lasts 5–15 years, depending on foot and vehicle traffic, UV exposure, and cleaning routine. Gym tiles and stable mats used correctly often last 10+ years. Entrance mats in high-traffic doorways may need replacing every 3–5 years.
