Description
Fireproof Hearth Mat 100×100cm – Heat Resistant to 1,000°C for Wood Burners & Open Fires
Sparks and embers from open fires and log burners can ignite carpets, hardwood floors, and laminates in seconds — and are the leading cause of house fires in UK homes with solid fuel heating. This professional-grade fireproof hearth mat is rated to withstand temperatures up to 1,000°C, providing a certified safety barrier around log burners, wood-burning stoves, open fireplaces, and solid fuel appliances. At 100 × 100 cm, it provides generous coverage of the floor zone in front of the fireplace opening. A non-negotiable safety investment for any home with a working fire. Buying Guide
HETAS (the UK's official body for biomass and solid fuel heating) recommends that hearth protection extends a minimum of 300 mm beyond the front and sides of a fireplace opening, and 150 mm beyond the sides. Our 100 × 100 cm mat covers a standard UK fireplace and provides the recommended safety clearance. For larger log burners or extended inglenook fireplaces, we recommend our larger hearth mat formats. The mat can be trimmed if needed.
Installation & Care
Install: Position flat in front of the fireplace or stove, ensuring it extends the recommended safety distances beyond the appliance opening. The mat lies flat under its own weight — no adhesive or fixings required.
Care: Brush or vacuum ash and debris regularly. Wipe down with a damp cloth. Do not machine wash — mineral fibre construction is not machine washable.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this mat required by HETAS for log burner installation?
HETAS and building regulations require an appropriate non-combustible hearth beneath and in front of solid fuel appliances. This fireproof mat meets the requirements for the hearth extension zone in front of the appliance opening.
Can this mat be placed directly on carpet?
Yes — the mat is designed to be placed on any floor type including carpet. It provides protection against both sparks and radiant heat reaching the floor beneath.
Will this mat handle a direct ember landing on it?
Yes — the mat is rated to 1,000°C and will not ignite or deform from ember and spark contact. The dense mineral fibre surface quenches hot embers on contact.
Is this mat suitable for a gas fire?
Yes — although gas fires don't produce sparks, they do produce radiant heat that can discolour sensitive flooring. This mat protects against both spark and radiant heat from all fire types.
